Commissioning a piece

Discussions and Drawings

It all begins with a drawing. I will sketch pencil and watercolour designs for you to review as we discuss your ideas for a piece. As I make everything by hand, it feels right to begin each design with a series of drawings on paper.

Whether you visit my workshop in person or we discuss an idea online, I can create rapid concept sketches on paper, so that you can see design ideas, shaped by our conversation, appearing in front of you.

Timescales

It depends on the complexity and the materials involved as to how long a piece of work will take to make. I recommend coming to me with your ideas as far in advance of your presentation date as you can.

Regular updates in the form of photos and short videos can be provided throughout the project, thanks to my brilliant and talented in-house professional photographer and filmmaker, Kyle Stuart Howie.

I love working with clients, discussing and sharing ideas and inspirations. The challenge of making a bespoke piece is stimulating to my creativity and imagination, and new opportunities to learn and push my technical boundaries as a designer-maker are always exciting to me.

The kind of projects I am currently taking on are artworks in metal, jewels and silverware, as well as engraving and making to my own designs.
